One of the most comforting pleasures of life is food, to be able to enjoy each bite, to satisfy hunger and that our taste buds can enjoy each different flavor, it is an exorbitant pleasure. However, the art of eating is not always the art of satisfying, so both are not always directed proportionally balanced towards the same goal.

Since food is a fundamental part of our existence, there should not be a greater complication with this, but it is not so.

The Judeo-Christian tradition assumes overeating as a sin, and indeed for Christians, gluttony is one of the most prominent sins and hence it is on the list of capital sins.

On the one hand we are encouraged to eat and eat in excess and on the other hand we are sold diets and products to lose weight.

Would fasting then be a kind of diet?

Fasting would not be a diet in the strict sense, since it consists of eliminating the consumption of solid foods for a period of time. Hence, multiple forms of fasting can be given.

Fasting has been practiced by many cultures as a form of purification. And although for us this has a religious connotation, the benefits that it provides to the organism are very remarkable.

By eliminating or reducing the intake of food, the organs slow down the work rate, proceeding to clean and regenerate better. Some naturists argue that by not having food to process, the body searches for its own reserves, consuming first the harmful elements that may be inside our body.
