Try Again

As a way of introduction; I would like to remind us again that failing at a single attempt; or rather; not getting something done at first attempt does not equate you to a failure. As a matter of precision, failure is never really failure until you accept it to be so.

A story was once told of Colonel Harlan Sanders; the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC). So many people are only seeing the glory now, but how many of you know the story behind the glory? He was a perfect description of someone that failed repeatedly, but refused to give up.

He got married at 18, and at 20, the wife ditched him. He was refused at the law school and also failed at many jobs, even in the military. It got so bad that, at some point, he contemplated suicide (but the only thing he didn't fail at doing was cooking). All this went on till he was 65years, and life dawned on him. He had to pull together the fragments of his broken life and tried one more time. That was how KFC was birthed, and now it is everywhere. If he had given up, we probably may not have known about KFC now.

So you see, no matter how many times you have not succeeded at doing something, you can still make it through if you put in determination and the attitude of "never quitting".

Can I tell you this? If you try something and fail, you are still better than someone that didn't make any attempt in the first place. At least, you have learnt one or two lessons from your experiences.

Sometimes, what people see as failure is just a "set back", which only sets the pace for a better "come back". So try to see success in every failure and do not quit trying. In the words of one of Chinese greatest teachers:

Our glory does not lie in not falling, but in getting up anytime we fall. - Confucius

Just like it has been said:

Practice makes perfect

keep trying; even if you didn't hit the mark; try again. Remember this: Success is not actually a final destination, but achievements in progression.
