I hope everyone is doing great and enjoying your weekend. I also wanted to do the same but I am scared and I cannot enjoy my weekend now. And the reason is devolution (Opposite of Evolution) and it is not a theory, I have proof.

In 1968, a movie was released 2001: A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick a movie far well ahead of its time, It met with a lot of criticism because most of the people were not able to understand the concept as the time passed by we started appreciating the philosophy behind the cinematic masterpiece and as time passed the movies were getting better and better to the point Gravity (2013) and Interstellar (2014) both praised by the members of scientific communities and space researchers for being scientifically accurate and praised by general public for being entertaining. Then how the f*$k did we end up with "GEOSTORM"

Spoiler Alert: Before I get in this storm, I would like to tell you all that the story of this movie doesn't make much sense and the characters are generic, In short, there is nothing that I can spoil here. But rules are rules so here is the spoiler alert

So after the barrage of the logos, The Movie starts with what we think the future would be. But the movie didn't mention the term "Global Warming". Instead we were given a brief 2mins intro to the world our characters lives in a very dangerous place, where the heat wave kills 2million people on a single day and the flood wipes out an entire city. Well, all I have to say is that the peoples in the movie have screwed the planet beyond repair. And the logical conclusion the world comes to is weather-controlling satellites system called "Dutch Boy" (It has something to do with the dam and a boy). Now my problem is that what the f%$king world was doing till that point when the drought and flood are killing in millions. Anyway, Keeping my anger issues asides. The world thought the weather-controlling satellites are the answers to all the catastrophic events around the globe. And it is later revealed that 17 countries are able to contribute to this project which is lead by obviously the USA and China. And the person who leads the project is the most trusted bodyguard of the president of the USA, Gerard Butler, I mean (Wait I forgot his name) yup his name is Jake Lawson. And you guessed it right Mr. Butler is playing the obsessed guy who is in love with his creation and is supposed to come out as an arrogant character. Resulting in him getting fired from the project and his brother Max (Played by Jim Sturgess )with no knowledge of how the "Dutch Boy" works taking over.

After a 3 years time Jump right before when the project was due to handover for an International committee, (Yeah, I was surprised too, you know, Till that point the USA was having the entire control of the project. Yeah, I agree. let us keep all such nit-picky things aside. Otherwise, the review would have a longer script than the movie itself) an incident happens in Afghanistan where the entire village was frozen killing 300 villagers instantaneously. And the Americans came to the conclusion that the satellite malfunction killed those poor villagers and to fix it they are sending the one person who builds the system is first place.

So while Max goes to Jake, we get as 5mins long character building scene or at least that is what it was supposed to be when they Introduce Jake's daughter. And they successfully established that Jake is a Bad father and he is still obsessed with his work. Jake agrees to get onboard with the mission to check and fix the "Dutch Boy". Oh and yeah! Meanwhile, in space, they retrieve the malfunctioning satellite for test and analysis and an Indian dude dies in "an accident". And before Jake could get to the space station "A major gas line explosion" happens in Hong Kong. This time the movie didn't even bother to give the count of people died, So I am giving a count by myself 1/5th of the total population on the Hong Kong city because the explosion took out the skyscrapers with dominoes effect.

And the movie really started testing my patience here, I mean I am Ok with the one guy going in instead of the team, I am ok with all the bullsh%t this movie has done until the first 25mins, But this is too much. Just for sending in one guy to the space station they launch a shuttle. "FOR ONE FU%KING GUY". Now don't be a smart ass and ask then how would they manage to get him to the station. They did send another shuttle couple of minutes back why can't they put him on the same shuttle. If that shuttle was to some other station why can't that be they route it through his station? No wonder the world is fu%ked beyond repair in this movie because people who were incharge of looking after are making stupid decision of using the space shuttle as bus services. Take a look and you will understand my frustration.

Phweee!!! Skipping forward. Jake reached the space station and provided with some 5 assistants of different races just to show the diversity of the group. While his brother Max is getting cozy with his girlfriend / (Later finance). When Max has been told by another disposable character that there is something wrong with "Dutch Boy" at a larger scale. Jake also at the space station confirms that same. After the investigation, they all (Jake, Max and Max's gf ) comes to the same conclusion that someone is using the Dutch Boy as a weapon and the incident at Afghanistan and Hong Kong were a trial run. And is capable of targeting any or all cities in the world.

Rest is the copy of any action movie of the last 2 decades. Jake is trying to make the ultimate sacrifice by staying onboard on a space station with self-destruction sequence in a run, Meanwhile, Max and Max's gf is trying to get the Satellites to shut down while discovering that Ed Harris who was playing Mr. Dekkom, secretary of states was behind all this. (Man, I don't understand why would anyone trust anything Ed Harris would say or ask, That guys have evil written all over him, I am actually complimenting him for convincing me that he is a world-class villain. That's all) And his motive was to make the USA powerful by destroying the rest of the world.

And that was it. This movie is one of its kind. It is trying to be many things, a political thriller, a space sci-fi, and a disaster movie but in the end, it became a SH!TSTORM. The story was so messed up and dumb. And ignore the space magic and experience that Gravity and Interstellar have provided. The movie is so dumb as they are destroying satellites to stop a calamity. Now If I recall correctly space does not work like that and since it is not just One satellite but a series of the interconnected satellites. Destroying one could lead to an event where everything could get destroy. Forget the natural calamities, the biggest threat to the mankind in this movie is the stupidity. If anything this movie did right that is giving the subtle message of taking care of the planet earth or else we will find ourselves in this movie where dumb peoples are trying to save you, and also the message of never to trust Ed Harris.

And I would like to take a moment to remind you all that the global warming is real, every year there are tens if not hundreds of storms and flooding happens. And the frequency and effects are also increasing. It is still not late, You may think that the action of one man doesn't matter but the thing is it takes one man to inspire other.

Note - This is my personal view of the Movie "GEOSTORM", And it is to be taken lightly. All the comments that I made were on the performance of these actors and not the actor themselves. Do not take my word as a word of an expert. I am no expert yet. :D
