I don’t have a creative intro at the moment so how about we just get straight to the point of this week’s film review?

A film directed by Robert Rodriguez, based on a manga (a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels) has earned a huge amount of positive critics and for a good reason. I have to say, I’m really impressed by how well everything was done… The CGI was impeccable, world building and character development were also outstanding. There is no unnecessary long and exhausting beginning as the movie throws you directly into the setting leaving enough room to enjoy the plot. The perfectly placed flashbacks are in my opinion a far better way of telling the viewers about someone’s past.

Giving that we are talking about a cyborg (half human-half machine) I will dedicate a small paragraph to talk about the combat in the movie. And I’ll start with: It was bloody amazing! The filmmaker’s combined a person with a human brain and robotic body and designed its fighting style accordingly. It’s simply enjoyable to watch the perfect connection of human thinking and robotic limb’s moving. The combats were also not over stretched and filled with unnecessary explosions and stuff like that, but rather quite short and interesting.

Alita herself is a very likeable and innocent little girl whose biggest problem is not being able to remember her previous life. Well that and the injustice surrounding her and her newly met friends. Being extremely brave as she is, she takes it up on herself to right the wrongs by any means necessary. I mean, who doesn’t like a feisty girl?

All of this being said, we have reach our final topic, the movie’s ending. Although you could say it’s a huge cliffhanger it was done in a way that leaves you with the satisfaction of a dramatic ending while leaving you craving for more. From an innocent child to a battle angel in two hours, take my word, the movie’s worth the watch!
