"Never Not Love You" : A Movie Review

in #movie6 years ago

Just recently, the reunion movie of JaDine, one of Philippines' most popular loveteams, created a noise online. It became so popular that almost all millenials shared their "feels" on Twitter catching other people's interest which made the film a box office success. It was directed by the one and only Antonette Jadaone, the same director of JaDine's top rating TV series entitled On The Wings of Love and Til I Met You. The said movie ended with an impressive amount of money and almost perfect movie reviews from critiques.

It revolves around Gio Smith and Joanne Candelaria. What they had was a deeper kind of love, which by some twist of faith, brought them together to London. Gio Smith was a more laidback type of person. He is an artist who relies on his father's money. But when his father and his new wife decided to stop supporting him because he's already at the right age, his life turned around. While Joanne was a hardworking and goal-driven individual who would do anything for her family. She's been eyeing a promotion, one she turned down when Gio got offered a huge opportunity in London. She left her job and her promotion to be with Gio in London.

Things were different there. Gio was the successful one when they went to London. He was so happy with his job and finally felt a sense of purpose. Meanwhile, Joanne struggled finding a job in the corporate world and ended up working in a café. She suddenly felt like London is not for her no matter how much she tried. She started to question her decisions if it's all worth it but Gio thinks she is selfish. They settled things down and she decided to come back to the Philippines. Things got pretty much harder when they had to deal with an LDR or Long Distance Relationship. Joanne got back the job and promotion that she turned her back on while Gio continued working in London. They were both successful with their careers but the future of their relationship got more and more uncertain.

The film will teach you not just a few but a LOT of things about love and life. It was created simply yet so artistically, enough to squeeze your heart. It didn't glamorize or romanticize anything. It was so raw, honest and relatable. Gio and Joanne's character mirrors the lives of every couple who has fallen in love, got shattered, made sacrifices and still chose to hold on to their love for each other. It's the kind of film that will linger on your hear and mind after you watch it. It is safe to say that Direk Jadaone is a genius director and writer. She is a great storyteller for giving us this kind of movie that definitely changed the game of Philippine Cinema.

If you haven't watched this movie, what are you waiting for? Watch it now. Rest assured that you won't regret it. JaDine is such a delight to be seen onscreen. The musical background is excellent. Each scene is relevant. There's no such thing as a perfect movie, but this one, is definitely close to beinh perfect. I'm not exaggeratig. Watch this movie and you'll know why.
