Incendies (2010) by Denis Villeneuve (REVIEW)

in #movie5 years ago

I rarely have seen a movie in a recent years that has such a strong touch, even in a painful way. Fearful pictures and fearful story would be the right description for this movie, a bit reminiscent of movies devoted to war tragedies that took place in the Balkans in the 90’s.

One big wasteland in which people try to exterminate each other for nothing, plus the movie sends a beautiful message about religion as the convincingly worst “invention” of humanity. I did not like the way in which the story was taken at the moment when the main character and the movie audience were supposed to be shocked and surprised by what they see, somehow predictable and pretentious, the story has a straight line of events so the assumption would be logical of the viewers, that is the only thing that did not make a Will.

Besides that we have a perfect soundtrack from Radiohead, they incredibly affected me with their tone and the whole atmosphere of the movie.
