The Best Offer (2012) by Giuseppe Tornatore (REVIEW)
Let’s be clear from the start, this is not a movie, this is art, this a perfect masterpiece created with a lot of values, emotions, happiness, joy and sadness. It is a movie where you just lose yourself and you connect with it deeply, deeply enough to understand that we live in a disaster surroundings every day, it is a movie about the relationship between an old guy and young girl, romance that he never felt it before.
The movie is about a lonely art expert who is working to determine people’s art values and tell them how much they can sell their art for. The incredible loner Virgil Oldman is played by Geoffrey Rush who gets a phone call from a person that wants to know the price of the art that was inherited to her.
The story goes well, Virgil will try to establish a connection with the girl that called him about her arts, but he will see that the girl has some mental health problems and it’s socially isolated in her house, hiding in a hidden room and talking to Virgil about her arts from a tiny hole.
The connection that those two will develop during the movie is very romantic, it is a breathtaking. And Geoffrey Rush was a really, really good actor for this role, he was the perfect fit for such an art created by Giuseppe Tornatore.
Geoffrey was the best fit for this movie because at the beginning of the movie he was displayed as a cold hearted old guy, who lost his hope into relationships and everything else, his only worry is getting the art that he wants from those auctions. After the phone call, you will see him in a different light, and on the end, he is going to be a completely different person, the transformation is just simply amazing
This is one of my favorite movies out there, besides that, the soundtracks are created by the best soundtrack creator, Ennio Morricone. My favorite song from the movie was “Volti e Fantasmi”, so deep melody that goes very well with the movie, I would highly recommend you to watch this movie, because this movie has no price, it is the finest art out there and it has the every elements of a historical art during the following years.
