카비리아(줄리에타 마시나 분)는 애인과 강가에 나갔다가 가방을 빼앗기고 밀쳐져 물에 빠져버립니다. 동네사람들이 그녀를 구해주지만 도망간 애인만을 찾는 카비리아. 정신을 차리고 거리에서 몸을 사줄 남자를 기다립니다. 우연히 호텔에서 스타영화배우를 만나게 된 카비리아는 그의 저택으로 초대됩니다. 구원자만을 기다리는 그녀가 구원될까요? 하지만 그의 와이프가 돌아오자 카비리아는 그 곳이 자신이 머물곳이 아님을 알게됩니다. 그렇다고 가난한 사람들을 돕는 부자도 카비리아를 돕지 않습니다. 그런 부자는 카비리아보다 더 가난한 사람에게 관심이 있기 때문입니다. 결국 신을 찾는 카비리아. 그녀는 신의 응답보다 악마의 응답을 먼저 받게 됩니다.

전작에선 사기꾼 아구스토에게 동정심이 갔는데 이번엔 같은상황인데 카비리아에게로 관심이 가는 이유는 뭘까요? 그녀는 구원을 갈망하고 수많은 구원의 방법을 찾았지만 그녀의 유일한 구원은 사랑하는 사람을 만나는 것임을 알게 되었기 때문입니다. 아마 그녀는 앞으로도 세번이고 네번이고 속을 것입니다. 그렇지만 그녀는 잘못이 없습니다.
