[Movie] A TV Series you Probably Never Heard of! Smell the Sweat and Dust of the 1920s
This is one of my favorite tv series ever! When it comes to tv and media I rarely watch anything. Honestly, I try to avoid mainstream media as much as possible. Yes, I am very picky about that! :)
BUT! I would love to tell you here why you have to watch Babylon Berlin ...
Yeah, I'm a vintage guy but rarely before have I seen such an authentically condensed work. The soundtrack contains many new creative ideas that merge perfectly with the extreme authentic images. This TV series fascinates - like magic it feels, like traveling back in time to the 1920s.
A time that wasn't always as sweet as the faded memories of many contemporary witnesses might tell us. Despite all the material deprivations in the time of the great depression in Berlin in the 1920s, one feels the urge for freedom that this time of change brought with it. A time when underground clubs spread all over Berlin, a time most everything seemed to be possible.
I will not get into the details of the plot here. If you like to read more about it, you find detailed information here. And here. Just listen to the music below and have a peek into the pictures and you will know why. The plot is full of surprises. It's definitely worth to watch this series!
Source: BMG official youtube channelLyrics of this amazing song from the original soundtrack:
To ashes, to dust
To ashes, to dust
Taken away from the light
But not just yet
Miracles wait until the end
Ocean of time
Eternal law
To ashes, to dust
To ashes
But not just yet
To ashes, to dust
Taken away from the light
But not just yet
Miracles wait until the end
It is nothing but a dream
The mere chasing of the wind
Who could tell for sure?
The clock on your wall
It is full of sand
Put your hand in mine
And let us be eternal
You make your own choice now
And throw us 'tween bliss and agony
But I can forgive you
You are so close to death
Yet your glance so clear
See me
I am ready
And looking for immortality
The title song by Severija Janušauskaitė is my absolute favorite!!! She is an amazing actress and singer from Lithuania. This is how she looks without beard make-up:

This looks great! I'll have to check it out. I find that time in history so interesting. I really enjoyed the series Mr. Selfridge--one of the seasons was set in the 1920s.
Mr. Selfridge was great! The sets and the overall atmosphere was as well amazing good!
Enjoyed your movie yesterday. So wonderful, poetic and very touching. Such a great idea to use the text slides instead of spoken dialogs - very very cool!!!!
Have a most wonderful start into the new week @stephie.spicer!
Hi Anutu,
Sorry it's taken me all week to reply. It means a lot to me that you watched my little movie and enjoyed it. :) Thanks for that and for your kind words.
