They'll Love Me When I'm Dead
Seemingly out of nowhere on Netflix I came across this brand new documentary on Orsen Welles featuring his work on the unreleased film The Other Side of the Wind. Orson's late life work has always been a confused blur to me, and that's basically because it is. Orson had a complicated life, one in which he exiled himself in Europe from the Hollywood money machine. He died at 70 in 1985 with many unfinished projects, including the behemoth The Other Side of the Wind. The project in many ways is a post-modern film/documentary within a film that was autobiographical but fiercely defined as not so by Orson. The doc dives into some of Orson's difficulties as a human being and the wild romp that was crazy process of filming Other Side over years and years, and also his erotic relation with muse Oja Kodar.
