Captain Marvel Movie Gets a New Cast Member
Yes, even though Captain Marvel has been filming for some time, a new casting announcement came out. Oscar Nominee Annette Bening has joined the cast in a mystery role.
Marvel has a history of hiring Oscar Nominee actors or high caliber actors to star sparingly in their movie. Remember Glenn Close in the first Guardians of the Galaxy, or Anthony Hopkins in the Thor movies. They didn't do much in these movies, but were mostly there for the name recognition. Considering that Brie Larson herself is an Oscar winner, I don't think that the movie lacks acting prestige, but she is mostly unknown.
As for the role that Bening will play we can only guess. Some speculate that she will play Danvers' mother, but I hope not. She deserves more than that. Some say she will be a scientist mentor which I am totally ok with. Or she might be a Celestials or an Elder of the Universe or even an Eternal, that is the best case scenario which will be totally awesome.
