How Spider-Man: Far From Home Post-Credit Scene Sets Up Captain Marvel 2

Spoiler Warning if you had not seen Spider-Man: Far From Home, first of all why not? It's a great movie, and second of all don't read this post because it will ruin the movie for you. Also, obviously spoilers for Captain Marvel ahead.

You're ready? Here we go. At the end of Captain Marvel Carol Danvers leaves with the Skrulls to help them find a new home and reunite them with their scattered species. The Skrulls are led by Talos who has been reunited with his family including his wife Soren.

It appears that Carol Danvers' mission to help the Skrulls find a home has failed. Just like the Asgardians, they might end up living on Earth. Some of them already do. At the end of Spider-Man: Far From Home we find out that Nick Fury and Maria Hill were not actually on Earth the entire movie. It was actually Talos and Soren who were pretending to be Fury and Hill and they did a really bad job with it.

Fury himself is up in space with more Skrulls. It looks like he is running S.W.O.R.D (Sentient World Observation and Response Department). And you know who is most qualified to lead a strike team for such an organization, well, forget team, it is just Carol Danvers. She's all about space and big threats so this will be perfect for her. It also works with some of her comic book arcs where she is Earth's first line of defense. While an army of shape shifters work as spies for Fury. This is pretty awesome.

Also both Spider-Man: Far From Home and probably Captain Marvel 2 will set up Secret Invasion. You cannot have the Skrulls and have them pretending to be important government officials as they did in Spider-Man: Far From Home, without introducing the idea of secret invasion. You know it is going to happen, it is just going to be different. Maybe some of the Skrulls will go rogue, a different faction of them, or even Talos' daughter could lead them. However it goes, we know it is coming. Both secret invasion and probably S.W.O.R.D will have a role to play in Captain Marvel 2. She's so powered up, that she needs either really powerful threats or subtle once.

Despite the fact that she a galactic character, she works best when she is on earth.
