Ragga oder auch Raggamuffin genannt ist eine spezielle Spielart des Reggae.
Besonders auf Jamaika ist dieses verbreitet.
Die Hauptmerkmale sind der meist im Patois gehaltene und auf wenige Töne beschränkte Sprechgesang und der stark basslastige Rhythmus.

Dancehall wird teils auch Dancehall Reggae bezeichnet und ist eine auf Reggae aufbauende Musikrichtung, die sogar Ähnlichkeiten mit dem Genre Hip-Hop hat.
Auch hier ist dieses stark in Jamaika verbreitet.
Einen großen Einfluss auf die jamaikanische Dancehall-Entwicklung hatte das „Toasten“, dieses ist eine spezielle Art des Sprechgesangs.
Da oft das Subgenre Ragga dominiert, wird Dancehall mittlerweile eher als Synonym für Ragga bzw. den mit elektronischen Stilelementen aufgearbeiteten Raggamuffin benutzt.

So geil. Anfangs 2015 war ich 4 Wochen auf Jamaika in der Haupstadt Kingston und dieses Ragga siehst und vorallem hörst Du in der Nacht an jeder Strassenecke. Verstehen tust du einen Scheiiss. Weil nebst PAtoi noch der eigene Jamaicanslang gemixt wird.
