David Attenborough wants you to remix his field recordings

in #music5 years ago

Fellow producers from Steemit, David Attenborough is launching a competition to find producers to work with his 1965 track, that includes the sound of a Balinese gender wayang, an Indonesian gamelan, two metallophones, and a couple of drums. The original recording comes from "My Field Recordings From Across The Planet", an album released in 2018.

To enter the competition you have to download the track, ‘Gender Wayang’ and remix it till 6 pm on Monday, June 10, 2019, via private SoundCloud link. They say in the website "UK music creators" but I find it strange to reduce a remix competition only for the UK producers. I will check this better.

Entries will be judged by broadcaster and songwriter Cerys Matthews, electronic artist and producer Hannah Peel, DJ and broadcaster Gilles Peterson and musician, artist, producer, and writer Matthew Herbert. This panel will whittle the tracks down to a shortlist of six tracks for the public to vote on from July 19 until September 15, 2019.

The winner from the public vote will be announced on November 1, 2019, and will receive an award at this year’s Songlines Music Awards ceremony, held at the venue EartH in London’s Hackney on November 30, 2019.
