Midnight music sharing - I'm a' doun for lack o' Johnie by Vanessa-Mae

in #music5 years ago (edited)

Vanessa-Mae is a British classical and pop violinist (among others, she was also a winter Olympian) who was active in the 90s through the early 2000's. Her fame as a violinist peaked at the turn of the century, especially with the release of her album Storm which contained my favourite track in her entire discography, I'm a Doun.

The song is a cover of the third movement of Scottish Fantasy, a orchestral piece composed by Max Bruch in the 19th Century, premiering in 1881. The full name of the movement is named I'm a doun for lack o' Johnnie, which is a song about a Scottish lady lamenting of being forsaken by her supposed lover.

Enjoy the song below!
