The Best Cover Bands in The World :P
Sometimes I just love to listen a familiar song played by another Band/Singer in a different intrepretation. Some of them play with their own style, ruining the original song (this would happen when some band try to covers The Beatles), on the other hand, the different style of playing the song could also give us a really different feeling to it.
When it comes to cover songs, the best Band that handling it so well would be: Me First and The Gimme Gimmes.
I grew up listening to NOFX, so when I heard Fat Mike was starting a side project, I already prepared myself. Turns out that side project was a punk rock supergroup, a fun band that love to play old songs with speed and loud. That’s what Me First And The Gimme Gimmes was all about. Super fun.

Another great band that really food in covering others’ song would be: Weezer.
Yeah, there was a time when weezer didn’t make any new records. And their desperate fans started losing faith and hope... But Rivers Cuomo always knew how to pleased them. They did many covers from other great band. My personal favorite would be when they were covering Radiohead songs. They never ruined the original songs, just adding a little sounds here and there. Still nice.
This is very biased of me. After those years of NOFX, Rancid, MxPx, Pennywise, Lagwagon, Propagandhi (or anything released by epitaph records), I turn myself into weezerian, a devoted one. Thanks to Weezer, when the Emo trend goes mainstream, I already prepared. I remember there was an album called “A Tribute to Weezer”, a compilation of Punk/HC-turns to-Emo bands playing their favorite weezer tracks. Dashboard Confessional was so good on that album.

The boys from Boyce Avenue perform some amazing acoustic covers of pop songs. Same with Hannah Trigwell, who has collaborated with them a couple of times. Their covers of Passenger's "Let Her Go" and Coldplay's "The Scientist" put the originals to shame, IMO.
One of my favorite covers of all time is Relient K's cover of "Sloop John B".
I don't care what you think of Country music, Kenny Chesney absolutely nails his cover of Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire".
Greg Laswell's rearrangement/cover of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" was so good Fox flat-out stole it for an episode of Glee without bothering to credit Laswell for it. Great job, Fox...
While it's kind of a cliche at this point, I think we can all agree Johnny Cash's cover of "Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails just demolishes the original.
If you've somehow missed Disturbed's rendition of the Simon & Garfunkel standard, "Sound of Silence", I feel sorry for you. Goosebumps every damn time, man.
I could go on and on, but I think that's enough for one comment. :)
Ooh, I never heard that Cover version by Boyce Avenue, great song! I agree on The Scientist, it put the original into shame. Hahaha
