Forward to the past with the team The Night Flight Orchestra

in #music6 years ago

Their music is a cosmic retro-futuristic cocktail that sends the listener far beyond the galaxy. It is a journey forward into the past, plunging into the space of the distant 70's and 80's.

At first glance, it seems that The Night Flight Orchestra is just a band whose members have hit their heads on the corner of nostalgia. Their texts sometimes describe the adventures of the human race on distant planets, led by sultry female commanders. But this retrofuturism is so easy and pleasant that you yourself fly away from reality and furrow the neon spaces of classical rock, together with the brave team of musicians and their heroines.

The idea to create the NFO project was born during the tour of the Swedish rock band Soilwork in North America. Vocalist Bjorn Strid and session guitarist Dave Andersson visited places in the American remote towns, where often musical apparatus were played by classical hits "Whitesnake", "Rainbow", "Deep Purple", "Thin Lizzy" and songs of others influential teams of the 70s and 80s . This prompted musicians to create a soundtrack for their journey, which will be held precisely in the spirit of that era.

In this harsh metal world, there is not enough music, under which you can relax by your soul and sink into sweet dreams.

It was not easy to find like-minded people in such a risky case. It's been a long time before Bjorn and Andersson found partners who would have an interest in the project. They were the notorious bassist of the Swedish melodic death of the Arch Enemy team Sharlee D'Angelo, for the drums they invited Yunas Shellsbake from Mean Steak, for the keys to the Von Benzo member Ricardo Larsson. In fact, the composition of NFO can be applied to the term of supergroup, since each of its participants for their musical career played in several famous teams.

From the first plate the musicians received recognition from both fans and even critics. The last one noted the influence of the titans of the rock scene and the high quality of the longplay. The Night Flight Orchestra created a worthy project, sustained in the traditions of the classics, but there was no doubt. After all, this ship is controlled by true masters.
After the first studio tape, another member joined the team - Sebastian Forslund. And for the recording of the third studio NFO, they also took two backing vocalists.

"Sometimes The World Is not Enough" is the fourth full-length work of NFO. The studio work continues to popularize the traditions of classical rock, the guitars became less pronounced, but this changed the music only for the better.

Let's listen to the title track of the album - "This Time":

The second song is "Turn To Miami". I liked most of all on the disc. It's "Fashionable" and juicy music. Should like the music fans of the 80's.

I like such a presentation of the material. It is extraordinarily light, and when listening to the album after album, new chapters of a fairy tale story open before you. This space rock opera in a classic wrapper which you wants to listen again and again, forget about everything and rush to the stars.

Strangely enough, the album is in no way inferior to its predecessors and continues the tradition of the band. I will not write about each song separately, but I'll say this: while this is one of the few releases of 2018, which I totally liked.
