Weezer - Only in Dreams
Weezer are far and away one of the most
important bands of the '90s, who continue to thrive and find mainstream success with their music. Beginning in 1992, when singer/songwriter Rivers Cuomo decided to get a band together, Weezer combined pop/older rock structures, with a super heavy, modern tone, and created some of the most charming, intense, tortured love songs of the generation. They were sort of nerdy compared to other rockers at the time, and stood apart in style too.

This was the closing track
of their self-titled debut album in 1994, commonly referred to now as the Blue Album, since they have so many self-titleds, are with a different main color scheme on the album cover. This closes up a seriously amazing album, with epic closure. The build ups and drop offs in the song really are potent, and the ever modulating little guitar riff sections really are great, and sort of sound "quintessentially Weezer" to me.
