'Landscope' - New Original Music/Song Idea! Electronic/Instrumental + Walkthrough!

This song originally began

as a bit of an experiment, just layering tons and tons of different synths on top of each other, most of which are from Spitfire Audio LABS VSTs. I think it could definitely use a new section, as it's basically the same thing repeated 3x, which would extend the length and make it more of a "full" tune, but I thought it'd be cool to share this version, then do an update again as I edit/change things along the way. Let's go through it as it currently is.

Track 1 begins the song,

and provides a 16 progression that continues through till the end. We are in Cminor, and stick to the scale almost entirely until the drums come in at marker 25. Track 2 provides the swell which comes in as a response to the "calling" of Track 1. Tracks 3 and 4 both further layer some harmonies on, with one using a super high register and the other an octave or two underneath. Track 5 is next, which builds on top of the swells of Track 2.

Track 6 is our bass part,

which hasa cello-y effect, though its actually a string ensemble, just in the low register. I really like how this turned out, it cuts out just enough for the kicks to come through, which gives it a sort of sidechained-rhythm (without even compressing it). After the first C in the 16 bar progression, it moves to an A natural, which gives us a temporary Dorian feeling, which I think turned out to be a really cool addition.

Tracks 7, 8 and 9

further just layer synthy goodness on top. These 3 add a lot of the melody parts that seem to sort of float in and out of the song. Because all of these move around within the stereo mix, the combination of all of them turned out to sound absolutely amazing with a full sound system. Finally we have Track 10, which is one of the kits I spoke about yesterday. I think the kick sound is super solid, heavy but also punchy with the mids/highs it has. The rest of the kit is decent, although the claps need a bit of a drop in volume, they are pretty loud when the song hits higher volumes.

I hope you enjoy today's little tuneage! Thanks for listening!
