'The Final Boss' - New Original Music/Writing As Fast As Possible! Electronic/Retro-Videogame/Instrumental + Walkthrough!
Since I did a 10 minute
and 5 minute songwriting challenge, I decided to get even MORE extreme and just write something super fast, and not allowing myself to go past 3 minutes. I managed this in like 2 minutes and 30-something seconds. Granted, this would need A LOT of work if it were to ever become a real song, but I like the general harmonic idea, and the changing between Cminor and Aminor is definitely dark. With the synthy timbre, it definitely could become a retro-sort of videogame tune. Let's go through it!

Track 1 is our kick
and the claps used in place of a snare. Track 2 is just the upbeat hihats, which I would have combined into a single track, but I was rushing so it is what it is, lol. Track 3 is our “bass” part, although this instrument jumps around between 3 octaves so it also has a dual role in forming the chords with Track 4. Both of these Tracks have 2 sections, Purple and Blue. Purple is in Cminor, then in the Blue sections we modulate the whole riff to Aminor. I changed a couple of notes around but generally they’re the same riff in different keys.

Track 4, Blue section.Track 4 provides the harmony
to Track 3, playing the same rhythm but moving between 3rds and 5ths, to give that epic video-game sort of 2 part harmony thing. Check the screenshot above for the Blue section (in Aminor), so you can follow along.

Finally we have the little break
in the middle of the song, which is just Track 1 (kicks and claps), and the Blue Riff of Track 4, but played at 4x the original speed. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t go with this if this was going to be made into a real tune, but I thought it worked (sort of), all things considered haha.
