'The Night Sky' - New Original Music/Chord Progression Exercise! Electronic/Solo-Piano/Instrumental + Walkthrough!
So this isn't a complete song
by any stretch of the imagination, rathe just sort of an exercise for myself in writing a chord progression. I wanted to try something rhythmically simple, with a chord change every measure. However, there are some interesting harmonic changes that happen in the left hand part, while the right hand just does a little descending line generally. Let's go through it!
Listen to The Night Sky here.
There are 2 sections,
Beige and Blue. The 2nd 16 Bar Beige section is pictured below. As you can see, the right hand gets slightly more involved in this part, and in the 2nd Blue section, but the left hand continues the same 1 chord per measure idea. It begins on a Csus4, Dsus4, then an Ebsus4 which adds some serious tension, followed by a C#6, also pretty dissonant. The 2nd time through, these same chords continue, while the right hand continues descending, adding some other little dissonances throughout.
Beige section, Full 16 bars, 2nd time around.
I hope you enjoy this little progression, I'll be sharing some more tunes tomorrow, so stay tuned! Thanks for listening!
