Judas Priest: Firepower review

One of the pioneers of Heavy Metal, Judas Priest, came up with this incredibly good album this year, called "FirePower", which is kind of surprising, given that the original band members are approaching the age of 70! If you are a metal fan, you won't be disappointed.

Personally, I couldn't find a single weak song on this whole album. What is also great about this album is its production, with producers Tom Allom and Andy Sneap doing a phenomenal job.

The album starts off with Firepower which has a nice groove. Then comes Lightning Strike which has one of the coolest choruses I've ever heard. Next is Evil Never Dies, which again has incredibly cool riffs, along with some cool screaming vocals by Rob Halford, which he is famous for. Then comes Never The Heroes, which is a mid tempo based anti-war song. Afterwards, we have Necromancer, which again has some good screaming vocals in it. Next, we have Children Of The Sun, whose main riff sounds quite a bit like Black Sabbath.

The song Guardian/Rising From The Ruins is probably the best song from the album, with a cool intro and great guitar harmonies in the middle. Flame Thrower again has some of the coolest riffs and chorus you would ever hear. Spectre is a bit on the slower side, but keeps you interested nevertheless. Traitors Gate and No Surrender are among the best songs from this album, with awesome choruses. Lone Wolf is on the slower side and reminds me a bit of Sad But True from Metallica. The album finally ends with the beautiful ballad Sea of Red that has a beautiful guitar solo in it.

Overall, its an incredibly good album. Perhaps the best from Judas Priest. It has great production and the music is tight, with the vocalist, guitarists, drummer and even the bassist firing on all cylinders. A must listen if you are a Rock/Metal fan.
