The goal of Playing For Change is to inspire and connect the world through music.

Playing For Change – “Groove in G”

“Groove in G” (2011)

This track originated in West Africa, where Playing For Change had invited the Tuareg band Tinariwen to play some music in the key of G.

Subsequently, the Playing For Change personnel moved across the globe, inviting more musicians from different regions to participate by playing the same song, interpreting it in their own unique style and as they saw fit.

The result is a truly “global jam.”    (Image source)

Playing For Change Band

A multimedia project focused on music, Playing For Change was founded by Mark Johnson and Whitney Kroenke in 2002. Johnson and his co-producer Enzo Buono travel the world searching out local musicians.

"Playing For Change (PFC) is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music, born from the shared belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people."

Musicians at Home

"The primary focus of PFC is to record and film musicians performing in their natural environments and combine their talents and cultural power in innovative videos called Songs Around The World.

"Creating these videos motivated PFC to form the Playing For Change Band — a tangible, traveling representation of its mission, featuring musicians met along their journey.”   (Image source)

Playing For Change Foundation

Those behind PFC have also established the non-profit organization The Playing For Change Foundation. The foundation creates and supports music schools and music programs, primarily in developing countries. Since 2008, it has set up 15 such initiatives, in countries from Argentina to Nepal.  PlayingForChange.org

wow @majes.tytyty, just great. I had a lot of time if I listened to this kind of music, the first time it was many years ago I do not remember what it was, but I do remember that it was heard a lot in Venezuela and in fact here they made imitations with only regional music. I will look for it and I'll send it to you

I enjoyed it too much, it was a musical marriage.

This is a pleasant music that, once again, demonstrates the power of music to bring about universal brotherhood. Different musicians, different languages and culture but united in music - and that's more than enough.

Thanks for sharing.

It's always my pleasure to share this ... particularly with people who can truly appreciate the music!

Hahaha. Sure, when I see a good music, it is music to my ears, to my good ears.
