ROCK CALENDAR: June 10, 1910-born American Blues singer and musician Howlin ' Wolf

This hefty Negro, born Chester Arthur Burnett, was born in the South of the United States and sang the Blues. And Blues always evoked associations with lonely wolf, sadly howling at the night moon... and he takes the pseudonym "Howlin Wolf". In 1956, he wrote this song, a song of the common tramp of those days, going nowhere with his guitar in a freight car and singing his sad song to the rhythmic sound of wheels and thunderstorms ... that's how Blues are written. He was not the first, not the last, but shot this song.
In 1999, the song "Smokestack Lightning" was inducted into the Grammy Awards hall of fame .
Rolling Stone magazine put the song "Smokestack Lightning" performed by Howlin Wolf on the 285th place of its list of «500 greatest songs of all time»
To be honest – in the original performance of the song I was not impressed. But it was amazing that more and more stars take it in their repertoire and each makes something of his own. And then I decided to show you two versions of this song – the old(author) and new. I found the video on youtube.
