Medieval folk performed by Faun

Hello, my dearest friends! The very name of the group already carries some mystery and magic. After all, the fauns were considered good spirits of mountains, meadows, fields and caves, revered by the ancient Romans. In addition, the Faun and known as the founders of the songs, they were always musical and unpredictable.

The German group Faun was founded in 1999 in Munich. Its participants are able to play ancient medieval instruments, but, of course, with modern accents.

Their mystical songs and the musicians perform in different ancient languages (low saxon, latin, sephardic), played on Celtic harp, bagpipes, rebaba (stringed bowed instrument of Arab origin), chalumeau (a medieval wind instrument), the hurdy gurdy, dulcimer and nyckelharpa.

Faun reveal to us the musical world of the middle Ages, the world of emotions and thoughts of the time. The band combines romantic and mythical quotes with the musical influence of modernity, and the album "Midgard" sheds light on the mythology of the Teutons and Vikings.

It is a pity that I do not know German, but they sing very heartfelt, you know the feelings and moods without words.

Melodious flute and harp play opens a new world, a kind of dance or a period of life, which gradually finds its culmination in a virtuoso hurricane of sounds.

The musicians have a lot of instrumental music, which you listen to with pleasure and transferred to some of your fantasies.

Members of this group are not only talented enthusiasts, but also people who have chosen music as their profession. For example, Oliver Ter almost always accompanies himself to bouzouki (a kind of lute), has a master's degree in medieval literature. Rudiger Maul masterfully plays the Djemba and tambourine, and in combination he is also a teacher-percussionist, the author of a collection of ethnic rhythms.

Cute Fiona Ruggeberg pleases listeners playing the flute or bagpipes, well, her vocals causes a lot of pleasant emotions.

The band has a lot of songs dedicated to Greek mythology, Scandinavian deities, the ancient Roman holiday in honor of the Faun, in many of them there is a biblical story.
