Unofficial BONUS PRIZES for original songs in Steemit Open Mic Week 84
I've decided I'm going to keep giving out a small award for some of my favorite original songs in English that are part of the Open Mic contest.
How do I participate?
- Make a valid entry to Open Mic.
- Make sure the title makes it clear that the song is original and in English or an instrumental.
- Be someone other than me.
(Sorry Spanish musicians. You guys are great but I don't understand well enough to evaluate the songs.)
Everyone I select gets these prizes:
- Two full upvotes by me, on their post and the openmic submission comment.

I have this weird fascination with songs that Buddy Holly could have written if he had lived. This strikes me as one of those circa 1981, when Buddy's experience of the late Beatles filtered through the early Talking Heads. But maybe I'm just making that up. Well done.

Love your vocal style. I really like songs with a strong sense of place, and this really impressed me on that level. There's a way that this sort of free verse lyricism connects especially well with Southern California, and I think you did a great job with that.
