No Borders Artist Review #11

Welcome to episode 11 of "No Borders Artists Review", where each wednesday we review indie artists from all over the world!

There's a lot of music in the world, some people work really hard to make their own way and we are willing to help them in every way possible.

For this episode we have chosen "Josestilez" from La Serena, Chile.

José González, AKA Josestilez, is a rapper from Chile. He started rapping and writing his own lyrics at the age of 10 after listening to Porta, which became his main influence. His first song, for which there's not much info about, was created in GarageBand on an iPad but he never uploaded it anywhere.

However, on March 27th of 2013 he decided to upload a Youtube channel with a song thinking of recording it properly in a later time. There's when the "Boom" arrived, where everyone got to know him over one night, and from that moment his life completely changed.

Unfortunately at some point he had to stop for a while and take a break because he needed to dedicate more time to his studies.

Nevertheless, his feelings didn't change, so when his duties got a little more chilled, he finally released his first solid and serious material in 2015, his EP called "Vive". The intrumental part was created from loops taken from Logic Pro and the lyrics reflected all that he had been going through in his life during that time.

The thing was that even after releasing that, he didn't feel like he was doing something serious, so he decided to take a break again to rethink the issue.

With everything solved, he returned now in 2018 with a new and fresh album called "Vive: Re-Editado".

José González AKA josestilez, es un rapero chileno, de la zona norte, que comienza a rapear a los 10 años de edad, a escribir sus propias letras, luego de escuchar a quien se convertiría en su principal influencia, Porta. Su primer tema, del cual no existe mucha información fue creado en GarageBand a través de un iPad, nunca fue subido a ninguna parte.

Sin embargo, un 27 de marzo de 2013 decide subir un video a YouTube abriendo su canal con una canción y proponiendo grabarla en posterioridad. Ahí se produce el "boom", donde todos lo conocen de la noche a la mañana y desde ese momento su vida cambia completamente.

En algún momento hace un paro en su vida musical porque el reconocimiento y los deberes sociales le empiezan a pasar la cuenta, debe hacer un paro en su vida musical para poder dedicarse a los estudios.

Sin embargo, con un poco más de tranquilidad en sus deberes, pero no en sus sentimientos aparece un primer material sólido y serio, "Vive - EP" en 2015. Instrumentales hechas en base a loops sacados de Logic Pro y letras que reflejan lo que ha pasado en su vida durante ese último tiempo.

A pesar de su disco, josestilez no se sentía que estaba haciendo algo serio, así que volvió a hacer un paro para poder replantearse el asunto.

Y con todo ya resuelto, en 2018 llega con su nuevo y fresco álbum Vive: Re-Editado.
