A cover from which I didn't knew it was a cover
Hurt
This morning I heard a song on the radio "Hurt" by Johnny Cash. I'd always thought it was a cash original but in fact it is a song by "Nine inch Nails" , a band I knew from the mid nineties when they were signed by Geffen Records.
First have a listen to the Johnny Cash version, doesn't it sound like it is just from his pen?
Now the "Nine inch nails" version, although version...it's their own song :)
There are some more covers that sounds different, better or sometimes worse then the original. In case of the Cash song, I love his sound and the emotion you can feel in the song....
The sound of silence
This song is gold, in both versions. The voices together of Simon and Garfunkel, just brilliant and stunning....
But the version of Disturbed is also awesome.... this version (live at Conan) you have to listen with headphones, his voice and the strings......goosebumbs.....

I do love a good cover. Cash's rendition of 'Hurt' is riddled with pain, but the video is just heartbreaking.

I have to say that I love all the versions. Haven't heard the Nine inch nails original before, but I likes that one too.
And The sound of silence, oh shit! Have heard both of those before. The original is beautifully sad and the Disturbed version is just sad sad sad. But beautiful. :D That voice indeed.

These guys are really nuts...what a as@#$les... But the song is not the sound of silence , he plays Enjoy the silence from Depeche mode... So for me the song isn't destroyed ;)

Very nice. I knew that one was a cover. Actually, I got a chance to see NIN a couple of times and they for sure performed it when I saw them both times. It is one of their staples. Nice post!
