Hi, inhabitants of the Steemit planet:

I took this picture while enjoying a beautiful show organized by the group Vasallos de Venezuela, Vassals of Venezuela, which since 1990 when, thanks to the support of the Bigott Foundation, was born under the name of Vasallos del Sol, Vassals of the Sun. Since then they has dedicated themselves to researching and divulging the wonderful Venezuelan musical tradition under the direction of Jesús Rondón, as Musical Director and Omar Orozco, as Art Director. Some of its singers are Eloísa Pérez, Sobeida Martínez, Betsaida Machado, Isabel Loero, Ángel Palacios, Antonio Clemente and César Gómez. As a performer of the Cuatro, a four-string instrument smaller than the guitar, they have Carlos Martínez and in the Afro-Venezuelan Percussion they have Hugo Ballesteros, Jesús Raúl Paiva and Juan José Salazar. They also have a stable cast of dancers including Amelia Arjona, Aymara Muñoz, Manuel Castro, Natacha Herrera, Eduardo Omaña, Nahiti Ortega, José Prado, Dervy Palacios, José Manuel Rodríguez, Ronald Rodríguez, Rossmary Rondón and Rita Vaamonde.

That afternoon, a heartwarming tribute was paid to the memory of Juan Carlos Rico González, who was a percussionist and founding member of the group and who had recently died of a terrible stomach cancer, despite the efforts made to raise the money needed to provide him with the expensive medical care he needed, what better way to celebrate his musical career, which led him to appear in several countries, than by offering him the best of the Afro-Venezuelan musical repertoire he loved, researched and shared so much? For this purpose, other groups and individuals, some of them with long experience and others very young, such as the Grupo Experimental Autóctono de La Vega, Afrocódigos and La super parranda "Sabor a Pueblo", shared the stage with Vasallos de Venezuela in the Concert Hall of the Centro Cultural del Banco Occidental de Descuento, a private bank that supports culture and art in Venezuela.

That's just the way we Venezuelans are: even in the worst of times, we find reasons to celebrate life...

If you want to appreciate the traditional taste of Vasallos de Venezuela, you can see them in an exhibition at the Smithsonian National Museum:

What a great performance! So much energy!

Yes, my ♥ @melinda010100.... It is so beautiful to pay homage to someone who has gone away with joy and living rhythms..... Our music helps us to resist our sad situation.... I'm sorry because most of the photos are not suitable for sharing.... My old Samsung doesn't do miracles, hehe. I'm thinking of publishing a weekly series of posts about the jewels of Venezuelan and Latin American music. But it will be when I get a bigger audience at Steemit :-D
