[Lofi] Chillhop Stream Back Online
As many of you will know by now, I am a huge lofi/chillhop fan, and listen to the live streams pretty much every day of the week. Chillhop have just announced that their new live radio stream is online and with a cute new companion, the Chillhop racoon. Three months ago we had to say goodbye to our favorite anime girl, I think due to copyright reasons, but they're back in full force with their chill trash panda.
Lofi (from Low-Fidelity, kinda the opposite of Hi-Fi) is an aesthetic of recorded music in which the sound quality is lower than the usual contemporary standards and imperfections of the recording and production are audible, imitating the feel of listening to a vinyl record or cassette tape. This style of music really began back in the 90s, but recently a new wave of lofi hip-hop has emerged, a combination of jazz/hip-hop and elevator music, usually incorporating heavy use of samples.
Chillhop themselves are the leading platform and label for the new generation of lofi artists, and regularly release a seasonal essential collection of exclusive tracks both digitally and as a beautiful gatefold double LP. I'll be receiving the Spring 2018 collection through the post soon hopefully, so keep your eyes out for a review on that. If you're new to lofi, the live radio stream from Chillhop is a great introduction to the world of low fidelity music.

Awesome thank you! I actually would like to get into chillhop more. A long time ago I watched an anime called Samurai Champloo and fell in love with the music but I hadn't revisited it since that time. And I have seen Thievery Corporation live a long long time ago. But recently I started searching again and found this list https://www.internet-radio.com/stations/chill/ so I could listen to streams. Thank you for Chillhop recommendation!
This new wave of lofi is heavily influenced by anime, I'll be typing away and just hear something from one of the ones I've seen before.
Thievery Corporation! I haven't heard that name for ages, gonna have to go see if i can get a few albums. I dunno what it is, but I'm really getting into electronica/chill music at the moment.
I'll open that radio up now and have a listen, got a feeling I'll be adding a few more artists to my list after today!
