Music Monday: Moving House Tunes Plus SBI REWARD (Steem Basic Income)

It's a gorgeous rainy day here and I have a box of records of my boy's that he has left with me for when he travels to Europe on Saturday. On the weekend I went over and helped him and his girl clean up their rental property, which has now gone down in legend as the place with 9 different sorts of wallpaper. The record player, of course, was the last thing to go, because the three of us had to rotate through vinyl, choosing an album when the last one had finished.

First on the turntable was Neu! - a 70's krautrock band. Love the rolling sound.. this track was great to clean the bathroom to:

Then it was the Stone's Beggar's Banquet, which was for the laundry cleaning, and a bit of hip shaking. This album reminds me of my Dad singing round the house on the weekends. No Mick Jagger, but lots of happiness.

Then it was Vintage Crop, a band my boy has played with a few times, and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, which are an awesome Australian psych band, followed by The Savages, which is a great song (why would I chose I song I didn't think was great, right?)

We then moved on to The Clash, coz we had heard an interview on ABC with Don Letts who chose the Clash 'Know Your Rights' as his parting song. I love Guns of Brixton.

I'm super going to miss these two when they go to England!

But, I'm left with a box of vinyl that has all sorts of stuff in it, from psych soul to old blues to Motown to post punk to new garage. It'll be just like my boy is in the house.

To encourage tunes to land in the comments below, I'm going to throw in 1 SBI share for the tune that gets me the most. Do your best - I will utterly be judging this on a very subjective level, but that's music for you! My music tastes are pretty diverse and eclectic, so don't overthink it, and have fun.

Here's a last shot of that wallpaper - and goodbye to a house full of silver fish, peeling wallpaper, doors that don't shut and blocked drains.

Last Friday I went to see The Baboon Show live, and what a killer concert. Rock & Roll and punk mixed in a crazy fuckin' show!

Want to share this music video, but if you have the chance to see them live, don't doubt it, their live performances are much better than their 'packed' music. It's all about attitude!

I bet that would have been an awesome gig!! There's definitely live performances that made me love the band far far more. Great to see grrrl punk!! In Melbourne, there's a great band with girls called Cable Ties, check them out.

I could listen to Hotel California all day long 😊

Ah, really? to play, you have to post the youtube clip...but then, I'm pretty familiar with this song anyway so I can break into the tune in my head immediately! ;) I haven't listened to it in ages, but it's such a classic song!! Whenever I do hear it, I remembered what an amazing song it is and why everyone loves it!

Their Unplugged version is also a gem:

Yes! Listening whilst I cook dinner, thanks!

That wall paper is mesmerising haha 😆

One song that gets me everytime it comes up my playlist, and makes my hairs stand on end is Furious Angels by Rob Dougan. Takes me back to loading up the camper van and cruising through the mountains on route to getting on a river or climb, the excitement and anxiety of the unknown...

Just had to play it again 😌 thanks for the reminder of it.

Have you got the youtube for it Dan?

He has an intense stare at the camera!!!! I can see how this would get stuck in your head. Powerful stuff! Cool clip, wonder where that's filmed?

Haha yeah he does, no idea where its filmed but it looks interesting. Not everyday listening for me but when it comes on it changes everything 😆 powerful stuff music

It certainly is. That's why I have been loving people putting YouTube clips as comments for my music Monday. It really helps me find new music and remember old Tunes. I think music is a natural medicine for me too comma when I am feeling down or when I am feeling pumped xx

Did you say house tunes that make you move? 😉

Posted using Partiko Android

ahaha yes, house music, good one!!! Lol. My boy never did get into house - there's a few tracks he likes from J's 90's acid house but can't imagine him playing it. This is a sweet tune though!!! Cheers!!!

It’s tough to lose with Ray 😎🎤🎹

I like these music Monday posts :>)

I don't wanna scare you, but that wallpaper picture at the end of your post reminds me of the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. The only thing missing is a tricycle and the twin girls ;>)

Here's a pic of my record collection / record player. A third of it is probably movie soundtracks. I just wish there was a way of storing them that makes it possible to see the covers/ cover art :>)

Here's a song that you might like:

The Commodores - Nightshift

I got this single on vinyl. In fact, I'm playing it right now, here's a pic to proof it:

Enjoy! ;>)

Oh my god, that's exactly what I said to the kids - you guys look like the kids out of the shining... hahha

Been moving through some old favorites today. This one has been stuck in my head for half of the day. One of those tracks that sounds deceptively modern.

Wow nice dark wave. Can definitely hear Echo and the Bunnymen or Depeche Mode in there. I have never heard of them but this is a great track and thanks for educating me. Go the 80s synth! Xx

Glad you liked it. When I first listened to it around my wife she asked if it was new Depeche Mode or an EATB track. Hard to believe its from 1986. Just a great under rated Synth Pop track.

PS Your user name is great, I kinda thought it was spanish or something lol, then I saw the individual words.

Thanks! I had an account somewhere called iamevilhomer as a Simpsons reference, but forgot the password. I think I just had this Modest Mouse song in my head when I was making a new one with Evil Radio in the lyrics and it's kind of stuck.

Yeah, I'd reckon - it has that classic feel to it and you'd think it new if you hadn't heard it before!!!

I just adore the photo you took of your son and his girlfriend, that is such a treasure. I love the music and this post made my heart a bit achy and happy because our children doing well and being happy is wonderful but I do miss having them nestled safely beneath my wings.

Oh I totally hear you. I am not a big fan of cleaning the, although my house is always neat and clean. I hate vacuuming and wiping doors and those kinds of things. My boy said for that reason he was surprised that I came to help. I said that is what you do for love haha except I am not cleaning your bloody oven. However just being in the company and listening to records as we cleaned and going out for lunch was just lovely and I felt so blessed just spend this one day with him. Funny though he has been sending me lots of text this week comma just random ones which he doesn't normally do. I think it is kind of nervous and must be trying to connect to his mother for support which is super sweet. I thought of you when I took this photo.
