7-day wayback music challenge: Day 5 – Michael Jackson - JAM

in #musicwaybackchallenge6 years ago (edited)

@slobberchops nominated me for this challenge which I take with both hands because It's all about the music :)

My youngest brother was a big Michael Jackson fan (and still is). When the announced his 'Dangerous' tour he asked me if I wanted to go. He was to young to go by himself. I wen't once before with him (in 1988) so I agreed to go again. First we had to get tickets at our local post office (things were a bit different than the online ticketsales now a days). So we went to the postoffice at midnight to wait for the next day when pre-sales started. It was a fun night with a lot of Michael Jackson fans who were there for the same purpose.
We managed to get two tickets, but the people after us weren't that lucky because it was sold-out in 15 minutes.... Crazy isn't it.

At concert day we left home early to try to get front-row places at the concert, but we weren't the only people.

Don't ask how, but we managed to get in row 4 front-side and had a great view at the stage. There were a lot of fans screaming and shouting all the time... My ear went nuts....As support act there was Kris kros (the little guy's with the hit Jump and their clothes weared the wrong way)

And the second support act was Rozalla of the hitsong "Everbody's free to feel good"

The support acts where great and got the party going real good. But of course we where there for the king of pop... So after some time an intro started on the screen and people where going nuts.... At the first row almost everbody fainted , never saw something like that in my life.... People were carried over the fences and we moved up to third row.... After the intro the music started to play and Michael Jackson was launched out of the stage in a split second..... You guess.....people where hystirical and the new first row people were fainting again, so a repeat of the first time, people got carried out of the field and we were moving to row two...... I almost thought 'two down, one to go' lol.... And indeed, it did happen. Michael Jackson stood still for a long time and when he moved his arm once...people were going crazy again and the last row before us fainted also, so we were in front row... I was sorry for all the people who had to leave the concert cause of their fainting, but we were at front row and that was great...

Michael Jackson started with the hit song "Jam"

This is the same intro as we had in Rotterdam, this was in Brunei

So for that this song will always remember me of this concert and the way we got at front row..

The rules:

  • Choose one song from your high-school/college years.
  • Write a few words about who made you listen to this song for the first time, what this song means to you (was it a breakup song? you blasted it at 100% on your audio system when you were partying with your friends?) whatever you want.
  • Write your text while listening to the song. As soon as the song ends, wrap up what you where writing and submit it.
  • Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated
  • Mention one person who should do this on each day.
  • Tag it with #musicwaybackchallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post

I nominate @tijntje for this challenge think he has some good music to share...

Have a great day and make things happen with music !!

Love the story. Did he have some kind of power to knock people unconcious with a sweep of his hand?

Three rows was enough for him it seems, and you got to front row. I dont know what that is like, I still havent made the front row in any gig as yet.

It almost looked like it, if he had a power-fist :) But I was really suprised by the emotion and reaction he brings to people. SO much that they fainted..... The last concert I was in front row was with my youngest son at a Volbeat gig. Normally I don't have to be in front, but for him it was a great experience..

I am a what? Lol. Will accept the challenge when I am back home from vacation.

hahaha copy paste error, sorry :)
