Drought Resistant Plants
Hi Friends,
This is an entry into the weekly contest of @socalsteemit where we show our California.
I took a short walk the other day to get some fresh air after working indoors all morning, and I decided to snap some photos of some of the drought resistant plants I saw to help give you a flavor of what many people do in the area, as we can sometimes go months without any rain.
As an alternative to sprinkler systems or other irrigation techniques, many properties use plants that thrive with little water. Here are some of the examples that I saw in a short walk:
As you can see, the plants are generally green and a bit thicker than your average plant – this helps the plants retain moisture even when there is not rain or people watering them. They also tend to be thorny or pointy – the ends are like needles and they often have cactus like thorns.
If you come to Southern California, you can expect to see many drought resistant plants like these.
Thanks for coming by today,
Brian
Amazing photography, naturally these are desert plants. Really they have wonderful ability to be alive few months without rain.
