Big Sur's Jade Cove
Tucked away at the end of a seam of geologic serpentine South of Big Sur, Jade Cove doesn't get too much attention. The path down to the cove has washed out this year, making the descent even more treacherous than in the past. The old-timers say that in the 60s and 70s you could grab as much jade as you could carry. Now, most of the jade is under water and SCUBA divers and free divers get most of what's left. Once a year the jade festival comes to the area: https://bigsurjadefestival.com. It's the best opportunity to see amazing pieces of art and specimens of nephrite jade.
