Beautiful little weed walk this morning! Everything is working really hard on blooming. Even the oak trees are finally waking up!
This first weed is making me pretty excited. Not sure what it is, but I really like it. Almost looks like the pics I've seen of Mullein, but it's not fuzzy... I wonder if young mullein plants aren't fuzzy... Will consult the great and mighty Google.
The big yellow flower has popped up out of one of the other weeds that I've featured. Still not sure what it is yet. There's a bunch of them about though. Is that dock? More googling. Eventually Google is gonna get onto our trick and start telling us everything is deadly poison... The wild Texas yarrow is doing great. Oregon yarrow hasn't come up yet, but it will when it's ready. It was planted well after the Texas one.
No sign of bees yet. I'll be mowing some of the more grassy (less herby) zones this weekend.

Yeah, I'm not so convinced anymore. Definitely not mullein like I originally thought though. It's growing happily by the road out front :)
I have an app on my phone called Pl@ntNet. You can take a picture of something and it will help you identify it. I have had mixed results, but when you posted the picture of the yarrow, I took a picture of your picture on my computer and the app was able to identify it. I was all excited to tell you, but someone else beat me to it! I think it's a free app.
Who beat you to it??
