The Magical Moonlight : From Meditation to Good Health.

in #naturalmedicine5 years ago

Purnima , this is how we call the full moon night in India. A night where the Moon in the sky is complete round appearance and showing full face to the earth. The natural illluminating power in the sky that makes every thing quite visible even in the night of darkness and gives a calmness sensation.

In India, every full moon day is considered to be very auspicious. Also many indian festival is celebrated on the full moon day. Full moon occur once in a months.

These full moon night is also considered to be a very positive source of energy. Many individual make different arrangement of worshipping and also for meditation. For Hindu, Moon is a deity and worshipping it on full moon day will bring good health and wealth. As per one of the article i read on internet, full moon is very good for meditative purpose.

Our physical body has two types of energies — prana and mind or consciousness. In every organ of the body, there are two channels supplying energy. The lunar energy enters the pineal gland and takes control of all activities from night till we wake up. The meditative rituals during the full moon help in going inwards; transcend the mind and to full divinity within. The hormonal pineal gland reacts to the bioelectric signals of light and dark, and meditation activates this bioelectric energy.

The recentally ended Full moon on 24 Oct has special significance. Falling just begining of the winter, ot is called as Sharad Purnima On this day we have a special ritual to keep "Kheer" ( Rice Pudding) under the moonlight and have it early morning for good health. I have made a post about the rituals in below link.

The tradition and rituals says that, eating the overnight kept " Kheer " will bring good health and increases our body immune system. Not sure of the benefit, but having those overnight chilled "Kheer " was quite delicious. However, if there os such tradition then there must be some logic behind it. I read few of the article on the internet and all of them do agree with the hindu ritual benefits :

During Sharad the days are warm and nights start to become cooler. This is perfect season for Pitta prakop when pitta vitiates along with other two doshas. Consuming rice flakes with milk during night time is good remedy to pacify pitta.

It is said that the moon is close to the earth on the day and due to this the rays of the moon has several curative properties. Moon light have many nourishing power.

Pitta, Pitta governs all heat, metabolism and transformation in the mind and body. It controls how we digest foods, how we metabolize our sensory perceptions, and how we discriminate between right and wrong

Now my mind started to juggle as, why only recepie made up of Milk and Rice are offered to Moon.

The scientific reason I found was that, Milk have Lactic Acid and Rice have Starch in it. Presence of these two under the moonlight helps in avsorbing good amount of vibrating moon energy and thereby making it Elixir (Amrit). A sacred dish.

No doubt , the bright and vibrantly illuminated moonlight on full moon day have a magical calmness if you ever notice at night. Not sure If these rituals and traditin have certain health benefits or not. But exploring on the internet with above details I belive it do have have very special significance.

Stay Calm....
