The Medicinal Whiteness in Wild - Kariya Flower

in #naturalmedicine5 years ago

Morning walk is always good for health. But sometime meeting few people on the way may get you some valuable information too, like I had today. It was a good morning walk to find some hidden health benefits of a wild flower. Locally called "Kariya" flower.

I had my walk, and was doing my regular stretching when , I saw an old man plucking some White little flower. He is village local priest, and had his bag full of those flower. It was again a natural Whiteness that attracted my attention.

I didn't took my phone along so I brought some flowers at home. Little Whiteness along the big Leafes. The flower tree is not too big and is hardly 7-8 feet but have many in our jungle. Definately looking from top would feel like white bed. The flower which blossom during this season is considered to be having many medicinal benefits. These little flowers have a mild fragrances too. Holding in my hand few bunches I can smell it and feeling good.

I excitedly asked the priest of the purpose of plucking so many of them, and he replied he will have them in his breakfast. My curiosity to know more led him to share the entire process.

  • Washing the flower.
  • Boiling the flower.
  • Drinking the boiled water
  • Frying the Flower with Oil mixed with chopped Onion and Tomatoes.

Well that is kind of entire breakfast preparation that he shared. I further asked about the benefits of eating these flower, and he said, he alongwith many villagers having these flower since long , and these flower helps in

  • Controlling Diabetes level
  • Blood Purification
  • Removing all kind of Stomach problem.

These flower are seasonal, so what they do in off season and he smiled and replied, they use to have the barks of the plants and use to have them washed and boiled and drink the water empty stomach.

Well, I am not sure, of the benefits, but looking at the priest so active even at 70 I believe he may be right. Also, I am not aware of the name of the plant and flower but looking at Google the closer I get is Holarrhena Pubescens.

The area where I lived is not so modern and many people still relies on old home remedies rather than consulting a doctor (unless & untill in extreme serious scenario). Looking at the priest and how he plucking those flower, I believe there is some secret benefit on these flowers like other home remedies. Hopefully, the Vedic Ayurveda also started with jungle with all kind of wild herbs and shrubs. And may be this flower too have already made its name.

Anyway, I love to see more insights on this flower from everyone, especially from my @naturalmedicine members. May be they bring more information on its uses and help me get more valuable information

This plant is from the family of Plumeria that grows in Hawaii. It smells very strong, very nice fragrance. In Hawaii the flowers are bigger and not eaten, as far as I know, they could be poisonous, but the plant in general has medicinal properties.

Well, it has mild fragrance...means one can smell it by getting near to it....

Such a delicate looking flower and petals; but full of such healthy properties!

Very interesting article, I did not know about this flower and its healing abilities 😊

Even I was not aware...do you have any idea about this flower

Wow, there really is no end to the amazing benefits of different plants! I don't think we'll ever see the day where we have studied all of them. We truly do learn a little something new every day if we are open to it. Glad that such a lovely flower is useful for more than just decoration! :)

Infact the day which you don't learn any thing is wasted...so everyday is important.
These little have soamy benefits who would know...the things that more excites me, is how these village people get to know the natural secret...how they started with the practice....really an answered question.

I have never seen those flowers before - they are beautiful and sounds like they are very beneficial too!
It's fortunate that the people still hold the knowledge of the plant medicines for i think more people are trying to get back to that - more natural ways.
Thanks for sharing!

Even I saw them daily, but never knew of the medicinal benefits...the mild fragrances is way more appealing. It's better people to have the natural ways..rather than the science way of getting treated
