Since the Steem blockchain became a centralized, top-down dominated place, where control and censorship thrive, I have decided to move my content. Don't worry, though, all my posts and up and doing well on the decentralized Hive blockchain. Come and check it out!

We LOVE spirulina and enjoy it in our morning super-smoothies very often!! @eco-alex - reason #98 is that earthships have plenty of space for your own spirulina farm!! Perfect plant protein and sooooo good when it's organic. :)

@ecoTrain

Enough space, plenty of light, and you may not even need the aquarium heater.

You truly are the spirulina guru!! I love that you take an expensive health product and make it yourself. Free,as well. I might well be living on it next year, lol, since I'm taking off half a year with no pay. Eek. Posts like this remind me to be resourceful and how little it can cost to make things that are good for you and the planet by making it LOCAL as you can get it!

Did you know that @ecotrain and @naturalmedicine are colloborating on an awesome challenge where you can win 50 Steem? Check it out here.

Thank you, that was actually the idea. I just forgot to comment with the link in the post.

I take spirulina most morning in my juice or smoothie, I discovered it 10 years ago when I became a mum and wanted to be taking something that would improve the quality of my breast milk and also give me a boost, it is amazing and has been so vital in keeping me and my girls healthy down through the years, I also love to add it to the energy balls I make. Loved this very informative post and it is great that you are putting this info out there for all to see. I never knew it was so easy to grow x

Please do! It's actually super easy, if the conditions are right. I'm pretty sure I've mentioned everything you need to know about the cultivation in my posts, but if you have any questions I'll be glad to answer them.

@stortebeker I have never heard of Spirulina, my Son lives basically off grid. I will pass this info to him. Thank you

Please do. It's an awesome food, and I believe the sooner we learn about it the better.

I've been wondering about adding this to my diet for its chelation properties, but having heard from a couple of people who've reacted quite badly to it, I've held back. I should probably just try a little first.

Knowing how some people react to it, I guess it may not be the best source of protein for everyone.

I'm out the loop, not been reading your spirulina posts, but wow that such an organism exists with all the essential nutrients. I will certainly delve into past posts too and read up.

I wonder if nits could do anything useful, having been around for a millennia too. Its a constant battle at the moment lol.

Congratulations! I just stopped by to say that your post has been selected as a daily Featured Post of my personal curation project! You can find the daily Featured Post HERE.

Wow, thank you so much! Boom, followed. I'll go and check out your profile right away.

You're welcome ;-)

I love Spirulina but never thought about growing my own. I'll be reading through all of your posts soon to get my head around it. I haven't been using it much lately because I am trying to rely on foods that are local.

I love "super foods" (overused term - I know) that are locally sourced rather than exotic imports and the idea of producing our own Spirulina is incredibly intriguing.

Lentils are a big one for me, no one wants to talk about them either. They are grown in Canada, packed with nutrients and health benefits and I find it so strange that they aren't embraced more considering how well they grow here and how much better it is than purchasing expensive imports all of the time.
