One of the most grand of South African Antelope is the Kudu. (Tragelaphus strepsiceros)

Photo of male Kudu taken in Dikhololo Private Game Reserve South Africa

One of 29 Antelope species

Widespread in South Africa and often seen in Game Reserves and on farms.

Only the males have horns, which are striking , long and spiraled.

They are known to jump over Game Fences and live in home ranges that overlap.

Herds comprise of females with their young, bachelor herds or lone males.

Always a joy to see.

Almost had a large male jump over my car with a baby in the back.....my heart dropped and I lost a few years.
Thankfully the big guy stopped just in front of us and ran away after the car passed.....eish
Still to date think they are one of the best buck to spot

That sounds like quite an exhilarating experience. I must agree though that they are still some of the best antelope to see.

Took some shots of beautiful ones at Mabalingwe last week. Precious.

Bears a total semblance to the giant eland, south Africa is blessed with so many game reserves, I love your blog

Thank you very much. South Africa truly is blessed with so many antelope.

Amazing looking creatures..I wonder if they can be dangerous to humans..

I wonder too. Generally they are quite afraid of humans but I’m sure just like any wild animal, if provoked it could hurt you.

A danger they pose is on the roads at night.

@africaunited what a lovely creature of God and nice to get information about it
