Daily Nature Fix: Hiking Trails in Iceland. (Original Photos)

in #nature6 years ago

Hi guys! Tonight's Daily Nature Fix is going to be a few photos of paths and hiking trails around Iceland. Most of these were taken the past July on our wedding trip to the country. Actually, I think they all were.

^^^This first one is my favorite of the group. It was in the north of the country among the Dimmuborgir area. The trail snuck under a low opening in to a mossy and ferny oasis.

^^^Here is a part of a trail that would walk you right out onto one of the outcroppings over the massive and beautiful Fjaðrárgljúfur gorge. Parts of this thing were close to 300 feet deep. Theres no way I was going to walk out to the very end. haha

^^^Here's Kylene in here wedding dress and stylish coat as we walk along a trail that follows the rim of the Krafla volcano. As a bonus, down hill from Ky you can see steemit's own @joleenwillis who photographed our wedding!

IcelandTrails00c.jpg
^^^This trail was in one of the few woodsy areas in the country. We were looking around for the Hofdi lava pillars in Lake Myvatn. The trails in this area actually felt similar to the ones here in Pennsylvania.

^^^A small section of a trail in Þingvellir National Park that is a boardwalk. I just like the blue sky, green grass, and soaring Icelandic flag in this photo.

its really cool photos, incredible view

im going on iceland in june this year. I ve heard this is something torally different this place. Im going for 10days and going to rent a camper car. I cant wait.

You will love it!

We were somewhat disappointed at Fjaðrárgljúfur when we went as they had put ropes up all over the place to stop people getting anywhere near the edge of the canyon. It seems that not only is tourism doing wonderful things for Iceland, it is also, in some ways, destroying its natural beauty. There were also roped off sections at Kirkjufell which was such a shame. Then, to see tourists just completely ignoring these roped off sections was really quite upsetting. They were there for a reason - too much footfall destroys rare mosses etc. I love iceland and im so glad that i've been there twice now. If it continues in this vein though, in 10 years it's going to be out of control and a lot of lovely areas will be cut off from the public im sure.

Yeah, what a difference we've seen in just the time between our first trip in 2014 and our most recent 2 months ago. Tourism is great for their economy, but the countries natural beauty is paying he price. Both in douchbag tourists doing stuff they shouldn't, but also how much they're developing to accommodate all of the tourists. Every year we go, we see more and more new hotels. A lot of which are in the popular scenic areas, cluttering up the view. We even saw a cluster of small cabins built right on top of bird nesting areas that we saw on our fist trip, which was especially upsetting.

ah, one of the destinations in my bucket list. My geologist colleagues all love ice land so much because this place has the most unique landscape, it's like a porn for them....

Yeah, I can see where they're coming from. It's like a porn to a nature lover too. :) We've going 4 times in the last 3 years. lol

The rim of that volcano seems a good place for a dramatic photo shoot with either a couple or a woman wearing a very grandiose gown.

Nice set @customnature

a fun trip for you, it's a beautiful country

Wow, it's amazing. thank you for posting.

I want to go hiking in a place like this! How cool!

Fjaðrárgljúfur gorge looks fenomenal. and i looked where it was and yes Iceland again. Iceland is haunting me for months now :D

can i try to edit it? just for fun

Please do edit! I'm not the best at processing photos. If you do go to Iceland, I can give you a bunch of tips and suggestions!

serbia is not the best country to earn money for trip to Iceland, but who knows, maybe :D

my problem with processing is that i can't decide what is the best :) i went a bit over the top :)

Maybe Steemit will be the place for you to earn that money! Man, that edit looks great! I have a very, VERY hard time deciding what looks good when I try to process my photos. When I do something like add a ton of contrast, I think it looks terrible.... BUT then I see someone else do it in their photos and I think it looks awesome. lol I think I'm just too hard on myself, most of the time. Did you do that in photoshop? Do you have any advice for me?? :)

well i am in the mix, for most of the images i start in lightroom as i import RAW there. LR, for me, is easier for basic corrections, and then i finish it in photoshop. i did not master no LR no PS so i am mixing and learning. in PS try playing with Selective color (i almost always do something with the black, like the blueis tones most of the time) and most of the contrast i do with curves. and try using LTUs - they are used in color grading in videos, but they also work in PS. 99% times it will not look good strait, but play some with opacity and some masking and the end product could be good. I was a bit against them in beginning as i like to know what have i done and how did a got something but it is a great help especially when you find few that you like and know what will they do in advance.
