At the beginning of @mickeybeaves and I's hike we passed a mother yelling at her child for being a happy kid running around the forest, it took everything in me to not address her and encourage her child to enjoy himself. Cody and I were disappointed with her as a parent and a human and talked about how sad it is that was was so angry at her child for being exactly that, a child. We put some distance between us and the mother and her kid and turned our thoughts towards enjoying our hike to the ice caves in Washington.

As we walked through the forest we were brought closer and closer to these towering mountains that had a demanding presence in front of us and grew larger and larger with each stride towards it. When we reached the base of the mountains we came up to a sign that warned against going inside the ice caves (which of course Cody and I planned to do regardless) but as we approached the snowy base we failed to locate the caves. So we walked around the back towards a cluster of waterfalls that were cascading off the mountain side. When we found ourselves alone I offered to have some natural photos taken of me with the stunning landscape visit the NSFW article here: https://steemit.com/nsfw/@haileyscomet/beauty-is-pain-a-phrase-women-are-told-as-children-and-why-it-s-a-lie

After scouting the whole area and with no cave entrances in sight I decided to ask a lady who was resting on a bench near by if the cave entrances were snowed in, and she said there had been an avalanche and the entrances were hidden which is exactly what I had suspected after we failed to find any. However, we did see a small hole in the snow that was beginning to melt, we felt a cold breeze coming from inside on our faces when we crouched down and peered into it. After this warm weather I am certain the entrances will become accessible once again.

It was a little disappointing that we didn't get to see inside the ice caves but the mountains and the falls coming off of various locations from the ice caps melting off the tops was well worth the adventure out. Cody and I are looking forward to visiting this place again closer to the winter so that we can get within the ice caves even if only for a few moments!
