Found a possible natural spring on the property behind our house.
I was out and about snake hunting today when I came across the creek that runs through the property. It was all dried up except for this one little water hole. No luck finding any snakes. Instead I realized that this section of the creek, this little water hole, I believe is actually a natural spring.
I'm surprised I hadn't seen this before till now. In fact, it was in this little creek that I caught that Northern Water Snake awhile back. Seeing that it has been several days since we last got rain and this waterhole doesn't seem to dry up like the rest of the creek makes me think that this is in fact a natural spring. This is like one of the greatest things I could of discovered on our land. We are going to have so much fun with this. Besides attracting all the snakes and wildlife, we will have our own personal water source forever!
I haven't been able to confirm it yet. I'm working on that. In the mean time we aren't saying ANYTHING to our neighbors at all about this. When SHTF, the last people you want to know that you have your own endless water supply is your neighbors. If you know what I mean. Remember, loose lips sink ships. Do you trust your neighbors? I don't! I don't trust anybody. The person who doesn't trust anyone is the only person who can be trusted. Oh the paradoxel irony!

LOL, I had a wet weather spring pop up in our yard this summer. It had been pouring for days but had recently stopped. I'm on the porch and hear something like a toilet flush. I looked around and the ditch by the back drive is running full of muddy water. I walked out and there was a 2" hole in the yard gushing water and a small pile of mud beside it.
It was rather weird and dried up 3 days later leaving just the whole.
You sure that wasn't a sink hole?
Yep, it's about a 5% grade and the water was bubbling up out of the hole. When I was a kid we had one in a flat spot in our yard that would bubble water up an inch in the air for about a week after hard rains. This was basically a larger version of that, litterally water just bubbling up out of the ground.
That is interesting. I never heard of anything like that. Probably be pretty cool to see.

Howdy Jonboy! Honestly I don't know. I guess we can try your method and see. For now we are like 90% sure. I'm still researching.

Actually I've been going to town more often now getting supplies we need for the house. Usually I'm in town 2 to 3 times a week or so. When I am in town I rarely approach people. I just kind of people watch.

I'm only rainbow man on special occasions. If I attract anybody it is usually just other hippies LOL. And when I see them they are usually panhandlers HA HA. In fact, I'm planning on making a funny comedy panhandling video eventually.

In the last year I have done a total of six spring head captures. The best thing to do before anything else is to just observe the spring throughout the course of an entire year and make sure it is viable and also that it is not either (a) a surface water spring and (b) not being contaminated by surface water.
