The Hidden Treasures Of Somersby Falls

This weekend @harrynewman and I decided to explore Somersby Falls! This is a place where I would come to escape the summer heat under the cover of the leafy trees and swim in the cool crisp water that flows through the falls.

Somersby Falls is just a short 7 min drive from the Gosford exit on the Pacific Highway. It is an easy accessible slice of heaven that draws locals and tourists alike.

The very top fall is by far the easiest to get to and the larger of the falls. Most people will come and picnic along side it but if you are brave enough to descend the steep stairs with the guidance of only a rope tied to the trees for support you will be rewarded with yet another beautiful fall and a gorgeous view. This fall is not as tall but it’s wide and you can walk behind the flowing water. Surrounding the fall is lush green foliage with water that flows and twists through the holes carved into the rock.

Venturing further off the beaten track, the path is less travelled and almost doesn't exist. We follow the water, this will take you through some thicker flora until you reach where the water pools. By now you are hot, sweaty and desperate for a swim. Its rare to find anyone here most are unaware of the pools existence. The water is dark, cool and refreshing because it's so deep. You can jump from the ledge above but I advise that you always check first. I've been here many times so I know where to jump safely but you can never be sure if there has been a fallen tree.

Hope you enjoyed coming along with us on this adventure to Somersby Falls! The lush green rainforest and flowing water is super calming and made for a great Sunday getaway.

As always, thanks for stopping by my blog.

Peace!

Hello Krystal,
It’s a pleasure to find your blog. Your photos are like rich oil paintings and I absolutely love them. That deep dark pool looked a little spooky to jump into .... I always found that with quarry pools that are sooooo very deep. I always get the odd feeling that anything could be down there
I shall be following you now for sure. Your presence is a blessing to the steemit community. 👏👏👏👏

I’m thrilled that you have enjoyed them 😊, the pool indeed does look a bit spooky by this time we had lost a lot of the bright light but it will never stop Harry he’s a bit of a thrill seeker. The image I have attached shows the pool in a warmer less spooky light but I too feel that way when it’s cold and dark! C59057D6-FAD0-4C67-A6FB-BEA9BA2926FE.jpeg

A veritable slice of heaven. Oh what a fabulous destination. I must tell my daughter to visit one day if possible (she lives nearer than I do).
Perhaps I should add it to my bucket list. 😀
