Forest of Tijuc. Brazil

in #nature6 years ago

Rio de Janeiro is a striking city. If you are tired of sandy beaches and sightseeing, you can take the bus and soon find yourself in the midst of a real Amazonian forest. Tizhuka National Park is the largest forest in the world, which is located within the city (its area exceeds 32 square kilometers).

Tijuca Park is the remains of a destroyed evergreen forest, which was cut down during the construction of Rio de Janeiro. Initially, the fate of the park was also in black and white - it was going to be replaced by a plantation of coffee trees. But thanks to the initiative of Manuel Gomes Arsher, the forest was preserved.

In the park of Tizhuk there is one of the symbols of Rio - Corcovado mountain and the statue of Jesus Christ towering on it.
