Climate and energy, how does it fit together?

Solar panels making hydrogen

Last week a group of Belgian scientists proudly presented their prototype of photovoltaïc panels that created water and hydrogen just from sunlight and air.
It actually didn't surprise me, I was more or less thinking, why wasn't this invented yet.

The best part of it is that this invention is really not that expensive, all you need is solar panels, air and a converter... How simple!

What with the electric car?

Now, all over the world the climate scare is making governments promote electric and hybrid cars. But is that really the solution. In my opinion, air is everywhere. But that can not be said for lithium. Those lithium ion batteries get cheaper each year, but they still are polluting the world. Especially the mining of lithium has an impact on the environment.

What do you think? Are we on the wrong track, shouldn't we go on the hydrogen track? Or is it because of the fact, that the big companies can not create an economy based on hydrogen? Are they the ones leading us onto the wrong track?

Just wondering...

Sincerely,
