The fruit is used for various purposes, besides culinary, as it has medicinal properties. Among them, bark decoction is mentioned as a remedy for asthma.

Due to their similarity to grapes, many products such as wine, juice, jelly, liquor and vinegar can be made with jabuticaba. Added to human consumption, jabuticaba is an attractive for birds, much appreciated by birds, capybaras, guinea pigs, agoutis, monkeys, tamarins and coatis. Flowering is a feast for insects. And the feasting of animals at the time of fruits may be the explanation for the occurrence of jabuticaba trees in concentrated groups, inside the forest. A phenomenon also attributed by some experts to indigenous management.
