I'm one of them now
If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter, then you may have come across what I got myself into a few days ago...
Some of you know I used to post my daily morning jumps into River Thames.
I haven't made an update about that in a while, because I'm still deciding how I want to go forward with it, but rest assured, I still do my jumps almost daily, because they make me feel amazing.
A few days ago, I was about to jump in, when I saw that this swan family, who have been visiting us regularly, was around again.
I've been wanting an opportunity to see if they'd let me get in the water with them, and I knew this was my chance!!!
No jumping in this time, because I'm not trying to give them heart attacks, but I slowly walked down the ladder, and they didn't seem phased at all.
I got my girls to feed them a safe distance away from where I was getting in the water.
Staying super calm and cautious, I stayed in the water for a good few minutes, and got some bread to feed the babies.
Not once did mommy swan seem annoyed.
I didn't want to push it, so I didn't try to pet the babies or swim around them.
It was a bit of a dream come true moment for me, I loved it. And... I'm pretty sure I'm one of them now :)

Note: Swans can be aggressive. So you shouldn't randomly try this. I have been establishing a friendship with this specific swan family, and felt comfortable enough to try this out. I kept a safe distance and would have been able to get out of the river very quickly if there was any need to.

Oh that's amazing - it's so humbling to be close to animals and feel 'accepted' by them... <3 Most magical for me was swimming with Sea Lions - they are awesome. This is a picture to treasure!
Omggg.... I'd love to swim with sea lions! Have you posted about it before?? I'd love to read about it.
And yes, soo true. Something about wild animals being comfortable with us getting close (and not trying to kill us) is such an awesome feeling :D

Ahhh - no never posted about it... YET! I'll try to see if I can find the footage that was given to us on a CD-ROM... Hahaha - and how the fuck I could get that on Steem :P

That was very brave of you!
I know I got lucky! I don't think I would have been as keen on trying if the dad was around. Also if it felt like the mom wasn't happy with me, it would have been a fairly easy escape, so it felt very comfortable to try out in the moment :)
