📷 Wonderful Park in the Kuban

Have a nice day! This year in our Park there are such wonderful occasions, they are also Chilean pine and those "mysteries of the apes".
There are many other beautiful trees, but these are very unusual.

These coniferous trees grew in the age of dinosaurs (about 240 million years ago), and belong to the family Araucaria.

In natural conditions, some of them can reach a height of 70 meters or more. While they are still quite little, only 6-7 meters :-)

Experts say that over the years, their trunk can reach a diameter of up to one and a half meters.

The whole trunk of the tree is covered with small dark green thorns, almost like a rose. Only they are soft to the touch, although they look like small pointed spears.

Many scientists call these trees living fossils. They seem to have been forgotten by evolution.

You can not even imagine that many centuries ago they looked very real dinosaurs. And I saw them as green and lovely :-)

These bizarre trees have become a symbol of Chile on a par with pepper. There even on the marriage certificate print a picture of this tree, and some tribes generally consider it sacred.

However, Europe learned about the existence of Araucania only in the late 18th century, thanks to the unknown Italian botanist.

Then the very first tree lived more than a hundred years. Later, Chilean Araucaria was widespread in Western Europe. Today in Russia it can be found only in the Botanical gardens of the Caucasus and Crimea.

These mysterious occasions we have made the present furor. Everyone wants to be photographed with them, touch, and often pose next to the centenarians...

In some parts of the Park are still under construction, as the new zone opened only a couple of months ago.

A good place to spend the day with pleasure in the fresh air.
