Passion Flower Vine & Gulf Fritillary Caterpillars
This is a favorite caterpillar of mine whose host is a passion flower vine.
Every butterfly has a particular host plant or plants that they must lay their eggs on.
The gulf fritillary butterfly must lay it's eggs on passion flower vine.
These particular photos are of caterpillars that were on my vine in 2012.
My vine is growing again - it comes back from the roots after freezing back in the winter!
I expect to see the female gulf fritillary butterflies very soon laying eggs on these leaves from my passion flower vine.

Your garden is a butterfly magnet. It is so clear for the caterpillar where to go and what to do.
For humans there is a lot more time of discovery. My son is now past the caterpillar stage. Now he knows everything. One day he will wake up and fly away.
I'm trying to encourage butterflies too but that one doesn't come this far north. Thanks for posting.

Nature is more than I enjoy. In particular, this brick wood captured from a busy mechanical life of a fictitious camera might have taken us some time to nature.
