I knit it because I need it / 必要に応じて編む・・・

My weaving project is postponed ... I was knitting a mitten. I lost left side of my gloves or my daughter brought it somewhere, which often happens these days. I need it urgently as it's quite cold without gloves when I push my daughter's buggy without gloves.

段ボール箱を使って機織りをしようと思っていましたが、手袋を片方なくしてしまい、機織りは延期してミトンを編んでいました。ベビーカーを押す時手袋がないとさすがに手が寒いので。

So I decided to knitted a mitten and went to basement to find some yarn. I looked for patterns on Ravelry as always and find a simple or according to the title of the pattern "the worlds simplest" one :) It was quite simple and only took 3-4 hours to make one as I used chunky yarn.

色の合いそうな毛糸を見つけて、いつも通りパターンはRavelryで探して編み始めました。「世界一シンプルなミトンのパターン」というだけあって、太めの毛糸を使ったこともあり、ひとつ3-4時間ほどで編めました。

One change I made was that I decreased stitches slowly to shape the top roundly. I think I will close the top with Kitchener Stitch next time instead of letting through the yarn tail going through the last stitches. These are minor changes. Overall I'm satisfied with the result. I cut out boa to line inside when I have time this week. Another one comes soon too.

指部分の減らし目をちょっとゆっくりにして先端を丸めにしたり、次回は輪を締めて閉じるのではなくメリヤスはぎで閉じたいなと思ったり、小さな変更や改善案はあったものの、満足の出来です。時間をみて内側にフリースを入れようと思っています。もうひとつも近々編みます。

While I was reading about mittens, I found Latvian Mittens are amazingly beautiful. I would like to try to make one one day.

ミトンに興味を持ってあれこれ読んでいる中で、ラトビアミトンというそれはそれは精巧で美しいミトンがあることを知りました。やばい・・・いつか作ってみたい。

In the end here is another item I knitted based on my need with yarn I had. I used leftover of hemp yarn from my market basket to make a body wash towel.

最後にもうひとつ、これまた必要で作ったものを。夏に作った麻のマーケットバッグの残り糸で体を洗うタオルを作りました。

I saw a nice hemp body wash towel somewhere probably at a bio store but I couldn't find it. I used some alternatives but they are not easy to dry, chemical fiber one is too rough on skin, they don't make soap foam well. The one I made woks well, it dries quick, good texture, not bubbly foamy. It drops fiber so I have to find a bit finer hemp string for the next one.

以前どこか、多分ビオ屋さんでいい感じの麻のタオルを見かけたもののみつからず。あれこれ試してみるも乾きが悪かったり、化学繊維のものはハードすぎたり、泡立ちが悪かったり。作ったものは乾きもよくよい感じなのですが、少し繊維が落ちるのが気になり、これはもうちょっと粗くない糸を探して解消できるかな。

That's my Needlework Monday. It's nice I can make something I need by myself. I would like to increase the things I can make throughout my life :)
